Here's another bundle as Sony will be bundling the PSP with God of War. You not only get the game but you get a a specially painted Sony PSP. It will be a two tone color with a light gray and red. The back of the PSP will have the imprint of a God of War figure.
This new God of War bundle will be released this summer. It was announced at retailer conference Destination Playstation. The package also includes a UMD of SuperBad, a certificate for Syphon Filter: Combat Ops and of course the red PSP. This is actually the third bundle as the previous ones were Daxter and Star Wars Battlefront. The bundle will retail at 199 dollars.
Some great new releases this week for the Sony PSP. The big one is for the North American market which is Patapon. It was released in Europe with great fanfare earlier and now the Americans are ready to buy it up like there is no tomorrow. The other two games for the NA market is Blokus Portable: Steamboat Championship and Puzzle Guzzle.
The EU market is getting Hard Rock Casino and Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, which should be popular with the great soccer fans. Asia is receiving three games which includes Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice, Mint Green PSP-2000 System, and MyStylist. Ok... The Green PSP isn't a game, but it's quite an interesting color though. Anyway, Patapon will be a huge treat to the NA market.
One of the recent updates on the PSP Slim and Lite allowed it to function as a VOIP phone via the popular Skype calling platform. Skype is a program that was created by the creators of the P2P agent Kazaa and online TV system Joost. Skype was purchased by eBay in 2005.
Personally, I am a heavy user of Skype as I tend to spend a lot of time overseas and Skype is a great way to be reached and call others for cheap. I usually just use Skype through my laptop but I since my PSP is usually with with I figured that I should try and use it. Frankly, I loved it. I was impressed wth the how smoothly the PSP handles Skype calls and how everything else works with it seamlessly. I think its great that Sony is far sighted enough to add more functionality to an already great gaming system.
So there are some major publications that are all seeming to converge on one idea: that the PSP phone will be an N95 style double slider phone that will have the PSP keypad on one side and a normal keypad on the other. Its crazy how many reputable magazines that usually do not induldge in baseless rumors (not saying this one is baseless, I don't know if it is) are all a buzz about this rumor.
Of course, from a practical perspective at CES last year the Head of PR for Sony Ericsson said that the mobile technology does not yet exist to make such a device a reality, in the sense that if it were made it would be far too large to be able to hold both phone capabilities and PSP hardware. In other news, there are rumors that Microsoft, which announced recently that it's adding games to their Zune MP3 player, will be releasing a Zune Phone.
Unless you're from France, you probably have never heard about Code Lyoko. It's about a community of boarding school kids who get sucked into a massive computer to fight an evil force called XANA. I'm not sure exactly what the reason is, but the show only had four seasons. The PSP version of the show continues were the fourth season left off.
They are no specific game images yet, but it will be a action adventure title. The game will be coming out June so if you're a big fan, be sure to pick it up. It should also satisfy action adventure gamers as well. It may be a good idea to start watching some episodes now as it is a fairly popular show.
Remember that old game called Pipe Dream? We all have at least played that game once, but did you know there is a newer version called Pipe Mania coming to the PSP? The game was been remade by Empire and should be very similar to the original. If you don't know what it is, you basically connect pipes quickly enough to avoid the raw sewage for spewing out in the open.
The new version will contain all the classic modes, but wll include new game modes, new characters, themes and other things like play mechanics. It should be exciting how Empire will do it exactly and probably will be a pretty popular game. Be sure to check out Pipe Mania when it comes out.
It looks like it's about that Sony got out and actually promised us
this Wifi PSP Store that was supposed to come out a long time ago.
Chris Eden from Sony mentioned at the Game Developers Conference that
they will be coming out with it. This means that PSP owners will be
able to download games directly to the PSP.
This is a great feature for all the PSP users out there. It is very
similar to a feature that is already out for Nokia phones through the
Ngage software. Not all the details are out yet, so stay tuned for
more information. Can't wait to try this out!
There looks like there is another rhythm game in town that will
accompany the long list which includes Gitaroo Man, Parappa the
Rapper, Beats, and many more. Sony has really been a shining star in
this arena and continue to do so with the newest game, Patapon.
Patapon offers an incredible unique experience where it is part
rhythm, part RPG, and part real time strategy. This is a very unique
combination which provides for an amazing experience. You control a
tribal group of warriors and you need to regain the former glory by
whipping drums and all sorts of other things. Definitely check this
game out!
There's an interesting week for PSP game lovers. There are some cool
new game releases that will make many people jump in joy. For America,
the only new game is Need for Speed: Pro Street. For europe, the games
are ATV Offroad Fury 4 Pro, Need for Speed: Pro Street, and the big
one, Patapon.
Asia gets Musou Orochi and Space Invaders Extreme. It looks like its a
good week for racing fans as Pro Street will be very popular with car
fans who like to tune their cars. Patapon is another huge hit that
Americans will be anxiously waiting for.
It looks like even reputable magazines are saying that the Sony PSP
phone is in the works. I'm not so sure about that myself because there
have been rumors for ages about this and still nothing has come out
about it. Sony Magazine (not officially by Sony) is saying that it
will be out in February which is THIS month.
Sony still hasn't made a single peep about this matter so maybe they
are making it but wanting to keep it a big surprise? Not sure, but it
isn't stopping major publications from saying it will be coming out.
Stay tuned to see where this rumor goes next.
